Seen from afar, we are nothing.

About the performance

Seen from the universe, the planet Earth isjust a grain of dust. On such a small earth, humans have existed throughout thelong history, which would be just a moment in eternity.
On the stage called Earth which is nothingbut a ‘pale blue dot’, we have been happy, angry, sad and joyful. When the dawnis gone, morning and afternoon come. When the winter is gone, spring comes, andwhen the summer is gone, the autumn comes.
The people you know, the people you loveand all the people you knew, who have existed in this world, have lived theirlives on the planet which is nothing but a small dot. This pale blue dot calledEarth has been our home and our everything. We, who breathe in such an immenseuniverse, are the only companions in this universe.
However, seen from afar, we are stillnothing.

Intention of the Choreographer

oyager 1 took a photo of the outer SolarSystem including the visible planet earth for the first time in human history.Despite the oppositions, Carl Sagan suggested that they turn the nose of thespace probe to take a photo. Looking at the photo sent by Voyager 1, Sagancalled the earth a “pale blue dot.”
The truth revealed by the photo: “How smallthe human beings are!”
On such a small “pale blue dot,” not a daygoes by that humanity does not fight. This is a noisy place where there is aceaseless war to earn something.
look at the photo again. The “pale bluedot” that shines lonesomely in the calm universe……. Our earth is such a smallplace for bloody fight.
very small stage called the ‘earth’ foundin a dark, large theater called the ‘cosmos’... However, it is everything forhumanity It is a history of us who are living today. and it is the only shelterfor us.
I try to move such a small stage on thissmaller stage.

Choomna Dance Company

‘Choomna’ is a Korean abbreviation of‘dancing trees.’ The Company’s name symbolizes its unwavering enthusiasm fordance, just like the deeply rooted trees. It also means that the Company’sdancers are making their forest of dance, studying as many movements aspossible and influencing each other, just as trees relying on each other tomake a forest. In addition to performing in Korea, the Company has collaboratedwith the South Chicago Dance Theatre for three years.
