About performance
‘NUTCRUSHER’ shows the physicalization of women, commodification of body and the many angles of who human body is manipulated. This piece deals with the process that proposes or investigates how female body is commodified as a social construct and how female body, regarded almost as commodity, can be seen from different angles. As seen in TV commercials, movies and choreographies for female K-pop stars, women should be sexy, sensual, passive, skinny and beautiful to be admired in society. ‘NUTCRUSHER’ gazes at society’s gaze on women with a non-brutal brutality. In repetitive movements, three female dancers come up with and also extinguish various stories via changes of rhythm and quality. The piece looks at what the audience perceives from the female body on stage, and what society requires of the female body.

About company
Her Sung Im Project interpret and approaches different stories of contemporary world through body and music. Members in Europe(Greece, Belgium and UK) and Korea regularly have online meetings to discuss their interests and approaches.
