2012 DOKKEBI AWARD
“Looking for a Performance Never Heard of or Seen”
Chuncheon International Mime Festival 2012 is looking for experimental and provocative artists doing a performance somewhere which has never been heard of or seen so far. We wish many young artists experimenting new art appropriate for a unique space will apply.
■ Applicants and Application genres
- Artists under the age of 35 (born after January 1st, 1977) inside or outside of Korea (with the standard of the year 2012)
- Experimental and provocative, site-specific performances with minimized language based on movements, such as mime, physical theatre, visual theatre, movement theatre, dance theatre, media performance, and installation performance
■ Performance place
- Security Hall and Children’s Hall in Chuncheon (more detailed space will be discussed with the office later)
※ Security Hall is the space for the exhibition of the relics of the Cold War era, such as airplanes and tanks, and monuments.
■ Performance time
- 10:00 p.m. May 25th(Fri) ~ 05:00 a.m. May 26th(Sat), 2012 (more detailed performance time will be discussed with the office later)
■ Running time
- 5 minutes at minimum ~ 7 hours at maximum
■ Support for the performance
- Some support fund will be given to the preliminarily selected performance teams for the demonstration screening consulted in advance with the Chuncheon International Mime Festival.
- The support for the performance space and technology will be offered. (*The support for technology will be determined after the discussion with the office.)
■ Awards
- In case of the Dokkebi prize-winning works in Chuncheon International Mime Festival, the overseas performance teams received US$ 3,000 and the Korean teams 3,000,000 won for the prize money.
- Promotion through the festival network after the performance in Chuncheon International Mime Festival 2012.
■ Documents to submit
- Dokkebi award sign-up sheet (download from the Chuncheon International Mime Festival website)
- In case of a premiere performance, an existing performance video (DVD) and performance photos
- In case of a rerun, a performance video (DVD) and performance photos
■ Application period
- Dec. 5th(Mon) ~ Jan .13rd(Fri), 2012

■ Announcement of winners
- Preliminary document screening: Personal announcement and announcement on the Chuncheon International Mime Festival 2011 website in January, 2012
- Second demonstration screening: the prize-winning performance will be announced after the demonstration screening sometime during 10:00 p.m. May 25th(Fri) ~ 05:00 a.m. May 26th(Sat), 2012 (at a consulted time and space with the festival office).
■ Further information
- After the performance in Chuncheon International Mime Festival 2012, promotion will continue through the festival network.
- In case of the prize-winning performance, it should be clearly stated in all printed materials for two years that it’s 「the Dokkebi award-winning work in Chuncheon International Mime Festival.
- Submitted documents will not be returned.
