Guide to Funding Opportunities for the International Mobility of Artists and Culture Professionals Focused on 13 Arab Countries
[Trend] Guide to mobility funding opportunities - Focus on 13 Arab countries
Korea Arts Management Service(KAMS), On the Move and the Arab Education Forum(AEF) launch the online Guide to Funding Opportunities for the International Mobility of Artists and Culture Professionals Focused on 13 Arab Countries, a key tool for cultural mobility from, to and within the Middle East and North Africa!
The guide, which is the first of its kind ever published for this region, gathers together regular funding opportunities that are accessible online and that are open to artists and culture professionals in most artistic and cultural fields. Such opportunities also cover travel costs, either partially or completely. The guide focuses on resources that are needed to ensure the mobility to and from Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Qatar, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen as well as the mobility in the region.
Listing national, regional and international funding sources, the guide is also a useful tool for foreign nationals who live in the region or those who are interested in the Arab / MENA region. In addition, it can provide inputs for funders and policy makers who are willing to make up for what lacks in funding international cultural exchange.

"This guide builds on research conducted by the Arab Education Forum in 2008 mapping mobility operators in the Arab world, and will constitute one of the tools to advocate for greater opportunities and resources to support the mobility of artists and social entrepreneurs" says Serene Huleileh from Arab Education Forum.
"Although South Korea is geographically close to the Arab countries, its artistic networking with them has not yet systematically developed, contrary to that with European countries. Under these circumstances, this guide came to be published to meet the Arab countries’ needs; its specific goal is to boost the mobility of local artists by providing them with information on funds, programs and institutions that support international exchange between South Korea and the Arab countries" says Jae-wal JUNG, President of Korea Arts Management Service.
"On the Move is convinced that making relevant information on mobility opportunities available for free is crucial to help artists and culture professionals who are willing to internationalise their careers. This guide, which is the result of the fruitful collaboration with our member Arab Education Forum and Korea Arts Management Service, goes just in this direction" says Maria Tuerlings, President of the Board of Administration of On the Move.
The Guide to Funding Opportunities for the International Mobility of Artists and Culture Professionals Focused on 13 Arab Countries is supported by Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS). The research was coordinated by the Arab Education Forum in cooperation with the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development and the Queed Zein Al-Sharaf Institute for Development.
