Company Introduction
‘The Choi X Kang Project’ is a project group consisting of Choi Min-sun and Kang Jin-an, based in Seoul, Korea since 2015. The group is looking for an intuitive way to create motions and focusing on the process of connecting external devices to the body through diverse experiments. From 2010 to 2016, the two worked as dancers at the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company. The group received an award for < Basic Dance > in the Seoul Dance Collection, which has produced many competent Korean choreographers. Starting with this, they have been consistently selected for projects supporting young promising choreographers, further solidifying their own style and direction. Since then, they have been working on projects with artists from Singapore, Bulgaria etc. They have also been broadening their activity boundaries by getting involved in various projects such as collaborating with visual artists and working in art galleries. In February of 2018, this group won the jury prize for < Complement > at the competition ‘Yokohama Dance Collection’, the largest contemporary choreography contest in Asia. This group is working actively in and out of Korea in recognition of the Korean dance scene for its potential in the unique style.

Performance Detail
“Can objects outside our eyes be controlled?”  This is the work that started with this  question and we want to try to unravel with our eyes how we are reacting to what is  unpredictable (direction-changing or focusing) by disintegrating and changing the space according to the view seen through a camera (eyes). The view soon designs a new choreography, which a performer reproduces in the existing space. The edited record within a reproduced frame moves into a 3-dimensional space, which leads to a new direction of the work, and it is operated in an unpredictable way at this point. Such repetitive motions and sounds obscure the passage of time while the camera lens tries to control the movements, but an empty void is left beyond its reach. Such a repeated process leads to adding, deleting, distorting or modifying the work, which creates a new moving method.
