Gwangju Culture & Art Center, located in the northeast of Gwangju-si, is Gwangju’s main performance hall. The Center regularly hosts new events (including major shows, plays, musicals, concerts, etc). The Art Center is affiliated with several museums nearby including the Gwangju National Museum, Jungoe Park, the Municipal Folk Museum, and the Gwangju Museum of Art.
The Center consists of two stages, Grand theater with 1772 seats and Small theater with 504 seats, and a center for Korean traditional music to preserve and develop the culture of Korean traditional music while restoring Namdo Sori.
