Bucheon Cultural Foundation

Bucheon Cultural Foundation is the cultural and art corporation that was established in 2001 by the basic autonomous regional entity. During its relatively short history of eight years, it has been opening up new horizons for the region through diverse cultural welfare initiatives for youth and women, as well as through high-quality concerts, exhibitions and education, in addition to cultural policies targeting the residents.
Many of the Bucheon Cultural Foundation’s activities are considered to be the first attempts of their kind. Starting from the establishment of the foundation, which was itself the first of its kind, it has adopted a seasonal system for concerts, and established an art information library (Dagam) etc., which can be considered the first initiative of its kind attempted by an autonomous regional entity in Korea. In particular, a seasonal system for concerts was adopted to showcase 30 outstanding concerts every year, special concerts for vacation periods, opera production initiatives and so forth, thus creating a new concert culture for the region. Moreover, it has a theater exclusively for children, and organizes more than 30 concerts for children each year. With 60,000 visitors every year, it is playing the role of a children’s theater.
