Seogyo of Seoul Art Space
A center for experimental arts that enables artists to network and share their cultural spirit with the local community
Converted from the former Seogyo district office and opened on June 19, 2009, Seoul Art Space_ Seogyo is a representative art space in the Hongdae area. With a basement, two ground floor sections and a rooftop, Seoul Art Space_ Seogyo has been used as a multi-function space including as an exhibition hall, multi-purpose hall, a cafe, and studios for artists, audiences and members of the community. The art space will help artists distribute and promote their extraordinary art products.
It will also constantly increase public access to the arts as a local cultural hub. In terms of programs on offer, Seoul Art Space_ Seogyo operates not only a regular call for cultural and art programs but also regular and special grants for rental space.
In addition, located on the first floor, the Art Archive Room holds the portfolios of art groups or individual artists working in the Hongdae area as well as Korean and non-Korean art magazines, and international journals and periodicals in the area of art and culture for the perusal of the general public. In addition, the Archive Room has JSTOR which enables anyone to search and download information online free of charge.
