Seoul Metropolitan Chorus

It is the first traditional music orchestra in Korea. They have been putting enormous efforts in creative transformation of traditional music and popularization of creative music. They have held 290 regular concerts and some 2000 special concerts. Their concerts in Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, France, the USA, India, Uzbekistan, and Russia were successful and fully appreciated internationally. The Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra has developed numerous creative string music pieces that are modern yet have bases in traditional Korean music. The creation and introduction of these new musical pieces have been a stepping stone to development of creative music in Korea and popularization of Korean traditional music by trying new genres such as traditional Korean pop-music, fusions, and music videos. The Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra is promoting internationalization of Korean traditional music to become a front-runner in traditional Korean string music in the 21st century.
