Jeong Ga Ak Hoe is a professional Korean traditional music group founded in 2000. Specializing in gagok, julpungryu and pansori (Korean traditional genres), we have tried to find a way of modernizing Korean traditional music rather than westernizing it. We will show you a performance reinterpreting North Korean folk music with today’s sentiment. We have been greatly praised for our deep understanding of traditional music and interpretation of aesthetics. At the same time, we have strived to find a new modernized format and sound to appeal to people, positioning Korean tradition music as the music of ‘now’ and ‘here’ and as music mingling with contemporariness.

Performance Detail

is not about westernization of traditional music, but the forefront of the accumulation of Korean music from previous results of modernization. Musically, it originates from UNESCO Cultural Heritage such as Korean lieder, Arirang, pansori, minyo, etc., and musicians compose and perform music on their own according to their inherent creative approach of traditional music.
