Company Introduction
Modern Pansori “Chom Chom” was formed for audiences to connect to their music through the creative and experimental sounds of pansori and minyo (Korean traditional folk song). Chom Chom has combined world music and theatrical performances to create minyo concerts as well as new works of pansori. They were selected as promising young artists in Seoul, where they continue to elevate their artistic skills. “Chom Chom” aims to connect to the masses in everyday language and to comfort their audience with a fresh approach and warm sensitivity in their music.
Performance Detail
A girl tells a story while walking through the city. This is a concert-style musical featuring music and storytelling that gained motifs from traditional Korean folk songs, making audiences imagine the scenes that are both fairy-tale and grotesque. In addition, in order to add fun to the picturesque narrative, she is taking out small props - such as a fan, a shaker, and a scarf - from bags. Each song has a clear story. By the end of the performance, the audience will feel like they’ve been looking around the city.
