KyungAe Ro studied choreography in the Netherlands. And she has been an active member and co-founder of the association vzwCABRA in Belgium since 2005. Kyung Ae, currently based in Korea, is working at Art EL she established in 2010. She participated in the Korea-Finland connection in 2011-2012. The cooperative work with vzwCABRA was selected by Asian Arts Centre in 2012. In 2014, she organized an exchange project for emerging artists from Korea and Belgium.
She has also run projects with persons with disabilities since 2013. One of the projects involved persons with cerebral palsy. They have a distorted body figure and it creates different shapes and balancing points. KyungAe focuced on working with these balancing and unbalancing points of movements. She considers it not as disabled movements but as unique language movements. KyungAe also collaborated with sound artists to work for persons with hearing impairment in 2014. She further developed the work to cooperate with persons with hearing impairment, those with visual impairment and artists without diasabilities in 2018. They researched ‘listening’ through many different tools, such as sound, language and images. These two projects will be developted and deepened in 2019.
