Artist Introduction
Park Jiha is a player of Korean traditional instruments (piri, saenghwang and yanggeum) and composer.
From 2008 to 2016, Park served as the leader and producer of music group [su:m]. In 2016, she made her solo debut by releasing her first sol album called Communion. She was officially invited to the World Music Expo (WOMEX), which is known as the world’s largest world music market, twice for the first time for a Korean artist (in 2013 as [su:m] and in 2017 as Park Jiha). With the 2017 WOMEX, she was also selected as an official showcase program of Classical:NEXT, thus drawing great attention not only in Korea but also in the global music market. In March 2018, she released her first album globally, with Germany’s greatest world music label Glitterbeat Records. Park’s album has been acclaimed by the Guardian, BBC and Pitchfork.
