Company Introduction
Song-hee Pansori LAB is a project group led by Song-hee Kwon (previously: vocalist at Korean traditional musical group Taru, Tanimotion and Yang Bang-ean Ensemble) and Hye-won Choi (previously: percussionist at Korean traditional music group Yen and Jeongga Ak Hoe). The group presents modern pansori reinterpreted with contemporary sensibility. Disassembling the grammar of traditional pansori and becoming independent from the musical theater focsued on drama and narrative, they concentrate more on individual songs. Composed of vocals, DJ & percussion, the gagyageum and the piri, they use a real-time effector to experiment with diverse forms of sounds and focus on developing expressions using voices. In addition, they actively add electronic music, drip pop and ambient music to traditional pansori to make their own new style.
