"Mooniment aims to experiment with children’s literature based on picture books across the boundaries of art and across the visual and performing arts. The Mooniment started with a joint project to develop picture books and educational programs from 2016, launched by dancer Chung Ji-hye, visual artist and cultural arts researcher Ahn Dong-huI. At that time, the two artists shared the perception that children’s rich cultural and artistic experiences, the importance in education. So they agreed that picture books could be developed into a multi-directional art medium, and worked with artists from neighboring art genres to create stories. As a result, it has now completed two series of picture book stories. Mooniment has formed a new organization to plan and realize projects so that the finished story can explore the possibilities of developing into a composite art medium. So It is planning to organize a project based in Seoul, and is planning to exhibit related visual and performing arts works, each consisting of dance, performances, visual design, illustration, and children’s art. It is a major challenge for the Mooniment’s artists to test the potential of children’s literary content to develop into art through their collaboration.
Mooniment will also create an online
archive on its website, ‘Mooniment IN Seoul’. It can be regarded as a
combination of artistic group activities beyond exhibitions and performances,
and it will be recorded vividly so that it can also be used as an archive. It
is expected to give audiences a closer look at the art, while also planning to
publish its own archive. The picture-book form will include performances,
explanations for easy understanding of the exhibits, online gallery links, and
general appreciation of how to appreciate contemporary art. It is also expected
that the museum will later carry out a series of performance-related
exhibitions in exchange for the artists."
