Project Introduction
The project is an artistic collaboration between the Korean dance company
Sungsoo Ahn Pick-Up Group and the Finnish visual theatre company WHS.
The companies will rehearse and stage a performance together. The performance
will premiere in both Seoul and in Helsinki. Sungsoo Ahn will make the
choreography together with 5 dancers from his company. WHS will use video
projections to build an imaginary environment for the dancers to move in.
Magician Kalle Hakkarainen, juggler Ville Walo of WHS will be performing on
stage with the dancers. The work is about food and will be a feast of
movement, visual images, magic and contemporary circus.

WHS is a contemporary circus/visual theatre group from Finland, formed by
magician Kalle Hakkarainen, juggler Ville Walo and set & costume designer
Anne Jämsä. The productions of the group have been the propelling force
behind the rapid rise to fame of Finnish contemporary circus in the past decade.
Sungsoo Ahn Pick-up Group consists of dancers from various backgrounds,
including Korean traditional dancers and back-up dancers for Korean pop
singers. Ahn''s dance philosophy aims at balancing mind and body through the
integration of ballet and the body-control method of "body neutralization" with
modern dance techniques.

Sungsoo Ahn is the director of the choreography department at Korea
National University of Arts School of Dance. Born in Korea, Ahn received his
BFA in dance under the direction Benjamin Harkarvy from The Juilliard School.
In 1991, he established his own dance company called "Sungsoo Ahn Pick-up
Group."
