The 14th Seoul International Dance Festival(SIDance 2011)




 

From Sep 29th(Thu) to Oct 16th(Sun), 2011

presenting 51 works (18 international, 30 domestic and 3 collaborative works)

by about 52 dance companies from Korea and 16 other countries,

at Sogang Univ. Mary Hall, Seoul Arts Center Jayu Theatre, Hoam Art Hall,

and cafes, parks, squares and other spots in the city

Seoul Section of the International Dance Council CID-UNESCO(President LEE Jong-ho) is holding the 14th SIDance for 18 days from Sep 29th to Oct 16th, 2011. Seoul Section of the International Dance Council CID-UNESCO has been leading the development of the Korean dance scene and promotion of the Korean culture''s international status, since it hosted the 13th CID-UNESCO General Assembly and the 1st SIDance in 1998. A group of internationally welcomed artists and dance companies from Korea, Germany, Italy, France, Japan, Lebanon, USA, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Turkey, Finland, Ghana, Sri Lanka and China will bring the great charms of dance and build close connections and interact with the audience in various venues in Seoul such as Sogang Univ. Mary Hall, Hoam Art Hall, Jayu Theatre at Seoul Arts Center and other spaces in the city like cafes, parks and squares. is holding the 14th SIDance for 18 days from Sep 29th to Oct 16th, 2011. Starting with the opening piece by Donlon Dance Company – Ballett des Saarländischen Staatstheaters which depicts the legendary female artist from Mexico Frida Kahlo, 51 works by more than 52 dance companies from 17 countries will be presented this fall at SIDance. by Tanzcompagnie Oldenburg from Germany takes a philosophical perspective on the implications of 8, the number of circulation and eternity, Eastern Europe Focus shows unique colors of dance works from Romania, Poland and Czech Republic, and Korean Dances Meet World Music this year is an exploration of deep sensibility of Irish music through Korean dances by 3 choreographers. Spellbound Dance Company will present the world of innovative beauty by the stylist in Italian contemporary dance Mauro Astolfi, and Young Winners’ Night is a dynamic stage of the new generation who won the awards at internationally acclaimed choreography competitions. Moreover, Youth Art Development Project ‘Imagination School’ presents the outcome of 3-month work, ‘Dream a Motion’, with about 120 young people from 10 youth institutions in Seoul, and various spots in the city will be colored with dance through ‘Dancing City’.
