Tongyeong International Music Foundation

The Tongyeong International Music Festival is currently one of the most promising international music festivals in Asia. Starting with ’Night of the Yoon Isang’s Music’ in 1999 and ’Tongyeong Modern Music Festival’ in 2001, the festival was developed into a large-scale music festival by hosting the first ’Tongyeong International Music Festival’ in 2002 with the efforts of young intellectuals and scholars. The precious investment of time and effort by young intellectuals has paid off, resulting in a music festival dedicated to Yun I-sang and his music being organized and held. Although Korea was his home country, the Tongyeong International Music Festival was the first of its kind to shed light on Yun’s historical significance since the beginning of the war.
Since 2003, the Yun Isang International Music Concours have been held every year, and the TIMF Academy has been held every two years since 2005. Following the example of prestigious world music festivals, the contest and academy were held in parallel with the festival and served to supply three synergies: arts, education and lantern gates.
In particular, the Yun Isang International Music Concourse opened the door to new opportunities for young performers around the world, which in turn contributed to the dynamic vitality of the entire Tongyeong International Music Festival.
