Synopsis
Under the theme of ’living traditions’, Fever was created for the purpose of considering the presence of Korean traditions in our lives today and restoring our increasingly forgotten roots. By applying its distinctive colors to age-old traditions, Ambiguous Dance Company introduces the most ’untraditional’ works that are based on ’traditions’. Such modern interpretations of traditions invite us to observe our own unique traces that already exist within us, and offer heung (joy, excitement) that will continue to live in the future.
Highly addictive rhythms produced by taepyeongso, sinawi and taryeong induce the heung of Korean traditional sounds, while creating musical synergy with live DJ music. The dancers on stage express unique movements reminiscent of powerful runway walks and engage with the audience through ‘untraditional’ contemporaneous familiarity.
About company
Ambiguous Dance Company was founded by choreographer Kim Bo-ram and dancer Jang Kyeong-min in 2008. The name of the group describes the “undefinable and ambiguous” characteristics of their dance style.Escaping from genres and preconceptions, the group expresses what is in their hearts through physical movement and music. Rather than focusing on delivering an artistic message or meaning, they intend to convey the true nature and purity of humanity, believing that the bodily expression of music and dance form the most accurate and truest language.
