We, even in the darkest times, have the right to expect some kind of light. – Hanna Arendt
A piece of theatre you’ve never seen anywhere else that will enchant you completely
About performance
In one room, in a space turned into ruins in Syrian Civil War, a civilian rescue unit called The White Helmets is rescuing children under the ruins. In another room, near a university in Seoul, the riot police called The White skulls are beating up the students who protested against dictatorship. Both are wearing white helmets, but they stand for something entirely different. In these two rooms, the audience witness historical events taking place in different times and different countries. They become the rescue unit to save kids one moment and riot police who arrest students. Inviting the audience into historical situations that was only heard about or never experienced, this piece throws a question about ‘our future.’
Synopsis
For a long period of time, mankind has carved a vast history of violence and human disaster, led by wars. Even now, so many lives are vanishing on the other side of the planet because of unbridled violence, with the truths being buried with it. Through the incidents of the White Skull of 1987 in Seoul, Korea, and White Helmets of 2017 in Aleppo, Syria, this piece tries to focus on vanished stories, nameless people and buried truths.
