1981년 창설된 거리 축제를 기반으로, 2007부터 “Creative Land”라는 슬로건 하에 아트마켓이 시작되어 축제와 동반 개최된다. 매년 9월, 스페인 타레가에서 개최되며, 스페인, 유럽, 중남미 800여명의 프로모터가 행사에 참가한다. 일반 관객에게도 공개되어, 2009년의 경우 4일의 행사기간 동안 23,000여석에 달하는 티켓 중 78%(약 18,000)가 유료로 판매되었으며, 프로모션용 티켓을 포함하면 전체 객석 점유율이 100%에 가까울 정도의 대규모 축제이다. 행사기간 동안에는 인근에 캠프장이 오픈되어 장사진을 이루기도 한다.

Fira Tarrega의 주요한 목표는 장소특정적이며, 혁신적인 무대언어를 구사하는 작품을 선보이는 데에 있다. 거리극 중심의 축제이자 마켓이며, 전통적인 극장에서 보기 어려운 독특한 작품을 발굴하고자 한다.
60개 내외의 공식 쇼케이스가 공모를 통해 선정되며, 스페인 및 유럽 초연작에 선정 가산점이 주어진다. 기획안 심사를 통한 공동 프로그래밍 편성도 가능하다. 쇼케이스 참가작품을 대상으로 한 2가지 시상이 있는데, SAN MIGUEL AWARD는 관객투표를 통해 주어지는 관객 상, CAIXA CATALUNYA AWARD는 초연작을 대상으로 국제 심사위원 심사를 통해 선정되는 상이다.

The FiraTàrrega programme is a catalogue of unique theatrical experiences, with a firm commitment for excellence and a wealth of formats and styles, and where the street arts and non-conventional venues are the main reference point. The Official Programme is a selection compiled from proposals aimed at seducing the audience and stimulating the professionals who attend; an eclectic and very selective offer that combines different stage disciplines and pays special attention to presenting up-and-coming talents and the national and international creative avant-gardes.
