The Bangkok International Performing Arts Meeting is back for 2019. This year’s BIPAM, under the theme “Eyes Open”, is packed with extraordinary events. As the name suggests, this year we’re inviting you to take a good, hard look at some home truths both on and off the stage.

BIPAM “Eyes Open” will take place from 16th - 20th October this year.
 

The Locations

The main locations for BIPAM “Eyes Open” are BACC (Bangkok Arts and Cultural Centre), and the newly established Host, which will open its doors for the first time for BIPAM.

1. Showcase Performances

BIPAM “Eyes Open” is packed with 18 performances by Thai and international artists over 5 days. Highlight performances are:

Damage Joy by B-Floor (Thailand) and
Violent Event by Billing & Schulz (Germany)

On top of that there will be performances of In Ter’s View with Thai and New Cambodian Artists by Wichaya Artamat, Sadub by Noise Theate, X2 selected students works, and play readings by SEA writers, artists and directors.

2. Talk Topics and Panel Discussions

In total BIPAM “Eyes Open” will offer 15 talks, discussions and presentations by artists and producers for you to join, with keynote speaker Pradith Prasartthong, and artist’s talk with Billinger & Schulz, Peter Weilz, Unfolding Kafka Festival, B-Floor and many more.

Topics include: the Sustainability of Long-Standing Theatre Companies in SEA, The Young Generation of Performing Artists, BIPAM x Unfolding Kafka, SEA Producer’s Network, SEA Writer’s Forum, Adaptation Works in SEA, and Theatre and Performing Arts Festivals in Thailand, and much more.

3. Table Meetings

If you joined BIPAM 2018, you may already be familiar with the format of the table meetings. There will be an open call for creators to host table talks on topics of their choice. The meetings themselves can be inspiring, informative, and are a great opportunity for networking and sharing ideas.

4. Networking Event

BIPAM 2018 showed the success of a networking event in a relaxed atmosphere with music and drinks. This year’s networking event will have a similar format and will be held at Host.

5. Workshops

BIPAM “Eyes Open” will offer workshops by Thai and international artists. Theses workshops are: Damage Joy by B-Floor, Violent Event by Billinger & Schulz, The Dream Body by Nuttarote Wangwiyoo.

And that still isn’t everything!
There is also the Opening Ceremony on the 16^th of October,
an Academic paper presentation by PATH
and a Guided Tour of Unfolding Kafka to look forward to.
