KIM Pansun
Previously a member of the Korea National University of Arts (KNUA) Dance Company and Laboratory Dance Project (LDP), Kim Pansun has performed on numerous local and international stages. Dancer Han Sang-yi won third place in the 2004 Youth American Grand Prix Gala in New York with a performance of “Inside,” a work choreographed by Kim. While a student at KNUA in 2004, Kim entered the spotlight after successfully auditioning for a production of “Mammame,” a work by the internationally renowned choreographer and champion of France’s “nouvelle danse” Jean-Claude Gallotta. In 2006, at the age of 25, Kim became the Universal Ballet Company’s youngest ever choreographer, working on the production “An Evening of Contemporary Ballet.” He went on to garner further attention with the presentation of a new work entitled “Confusion” with choreographers Nacho Duato and Ohad Naharin. Kim is currently in his seventh year as a dancer for the Emanuel Gat dance company in France.
Even as Kim pursues his career as a dancer, he has continued to choreograph solo works such as “Eating Spirit” (2013) and “Share, Sound” (2014). In 2015, he choreographed “12MHz,” performed by twelve-member dance group LDP at the LG Arts Center. He also performed “OWN MHz” at Focus Corée, a program of contemporary Korean dance held at Théâtre National de Chaillot as part of the 2015–2016 Korea-France Year.
